I hate to be late no matter the nature of the date.
A first romantic dinner?
I am perfectly able to wait at our table for her.
For a patient half hour will not sour anticipation,
only enhance the coming conversation.
A calm 15 minutes before,
wandering around, outside her front door
is far more pleasing
than a “spit and slide under”
with some excuse that,
in summary says, “I could have but didn’t!”
Arriving comfortably early does not diminish the passion…
just the nervous tension.
To reveal an eagerness is a sweeter introduction
than begging forgiveness for a botched first impression.
So live with your Timex set 30 minutes ahead
and make up for lost time
getting down to business….
in bed.
