1295 JUST, OLD 09-18-25

The halting steps…

the crick in the back…

the accidental doze at the desk…

these are the inevitabilities,

no matter the diets or regimens.

We accumulate years

and wipe away tears

at the graves of those we love.

To age,

as natural as page by page,

reaching that last sentence

of this grand novel

we’ve been writing for quite a while now…

We sigh, close the book,

smile and look

heavenward

(as we’ve been taught to)

for the sequel,

the next installment of the saga.

Good reading, there!

But,

always avoid at all cost

the surrender

to the expectation that

we, “can no longer”

when, with purpose, we can, “still”!

That we are “too old to…”

when we are,

just,

old.

Oh, yes!

The conclusion remains the same.

But not the getting there.
