He hurt you!
Yes.
You’re hurt.
Innocent, but in pain,
you hear his plea for forgiveness.
You weigh your options.
You think, “I’ll think about it.’
And you do.
You teeter-totter in your brain,
” …but he hurt me. But he is sincere. I think. And he’s hurting, standing there, bare-foot in the snow. Should I not alleviate his pain? I could, of course! And I should for I am Christian. But he’s paying for his sin with his guilt. (And how delicious is his agony…..) But 70 times 7 is what Jesus said.
“Freedom is a residual benefit for the forgiver,” the preacher said in his Sabbath sermon. “Free yourself of it! Leave it behind you!”
So, for my sake, anyway,
and for his, perhaps,
I forgive.
Ah! I feel so much lighter!
