A sonnet from Saint Pauls letter to the Hebrews. ( Redacted by the early church fathers in 305 CE, when their debate over priestly celibacy was brought to its conclusion). The sonnet was found to be heretical and therefore could not have been written by the celebrated-celibate, Saint Paul. Preserved here for the purpose of academic debate.
I know there is an After.
I owe my knowing, all to you.
Swaddled in your warmth,
Cocooned by love,
you are the only evidence I need.
I reach out to touch you
in our nightly dream of Heaven.
Your lips affirm my faith.
Your second kiss, a brush of angel wings….
I’ll never need more substance
than what you offer.
Yes, unbelief is braver,
but by Faith alone’s the sweeter.
And if there’s Nothing after nothing,
who will know?
