1087 MORNING LIGHT 10-19-22

I love how morning breaks

through gauzey cotton curtains

hung around my bedroom bay.

here in my home by the sea.

First, opaque,

blind night shrouds us all.

Then the ocean fog

dissolves into diamond mist,

sparkling in the suns first light

cracking the horizon.

Then the startling bright white

reflects from the trim

around my back-yard porch,

and a gathering blue-slate sky,

lightens into

a turquoise Carolina Autumn morning.

Early day urges me

out from under my quilts

up into a crisp late October.

Perhaps you’ve seen it

as I have.

As the first glimmer of hope

in a sinners soul.

And, at last,

in the crystal clear clarity

of forgiveness,

golden eternity stretching out

before us.
