Look.

I like the world

and all,

but

I like it better

without

hearing aids.

I’ve been becoming deafer

daily,

for years

and had my aids installed

just a few days ago

and

DEAR GOD!

THE NOISE!

Did you ever notice

how loud

a toilet flush?

Or the garbage disposal

in your kitchen sink?

Or the awful difference between

a conversation on THIS IS US

and an ad for a FORD F 150?

There are sounds

not worthy of being heard!

And as my dear ol’ Dad said,

before he was dead

at 86,

after 15 years nearly deaf,

“I’m not deaf!

People just need to articulate!”

He was an example for us all.
