God’s got fingers making miracles.
One is a teacher.
One is your nurse.
One is your doctor.
One, a pastor.
One, your ever loving spouse.
Two are your parents.
(Yeah, Yeah… I know! That’s more than five!
So what?
God’s God,
so maybe God’s got a
miracle working
seven fingered hand!)
And that’s just the right hand!
On the other hand
is all those left,
all those intimate strangers
you just meet,
serendipitously on the street
or in the plane-seat next to yours
or in the stacks of your college library
or on a Greyhound Bus to Alburquere
or on the ticket line at Radio City Music Hall
one snowy, wintery afternoon
just in time for the 7PM curtain.
You Know!
Those incognito angels
hiding their folded wings
under woolen over coats,
whispering kindness,
changing your dark mood
into a journey towards the bright,
giving you the few simple words
you need
for hope
or joy
or a sudden clarity,
enough to rock your cosmos!
(Listen to those folks, ya hear!
They’re not here for nothing.
They’re the miracle workers, lately!)
God cuts a path into your soul
with those fingers!
Strums your slightly off key guitar
just lightly enough to harmony your day
into a melody composed for you alone to sing.
Hold those hands at every opportunity
Go wherever those fingers point.
No use ignoring the gift,
meant for only you
to open.
