Since my pacemaker install
and Eloquis regimen,
I cold easily.
Used to be
my wife would,
shivering,
snuggle up to me
beneath the covers
for a midnight warming.
Now,
she is the oven in the bed.
Often,
even a single cotton sheet
is to much
for her body temp to tolerate.
So,
now I wear
my fleece vest and wool cap
around the house,
the thermostat set to 69
at mid-day.
Come night time,
I back-spoon into her,
my back pressed to her breasts
so I can stop the cold-shakes.
She doesn’t seem to mind.
And I love the warm, round softness
pressed against my spine.
(Shhh! I’ll tell you a secret!
Sometimes I squeeze into her,
even when I am not cold!)
I know what the kids say
about anyone over 60…
Well,
they’re wrong.
