A revisionist historian
steps in to help
little Billy
when Billy asks
his Mommy,
(another revisionist historian),

“Mommy,
why did Daddy
leave us?”
and Mommy answers,

“Daddy didn’t leave us,
Dear.
He’s been on a business trip-
for five years.”

That’s when
the other revisionist historian
says,

“That’s Bull Shit, Billy!
Daddy did leave
You
AND
Mommy.
He’s living in Chicago
with his slut of a secretary
and won’t be back because
he’s a bastard!
Get over it!”

Then Mommy,

cries.

And Billy

nods his head
with a wisdom
that belies
his seven years
and says,

“OK.
Thanks for the
truth.

You bastard.”

And we may never know
to which of them
Billy is referring.
