From birth,
we are but visitors
on Earth.
Guests of
Mother Nature
and
Father God,
constrained by their iron bands
of hospitality and rational laws
to do,
first,
no harm,
but,
rather,
to walk,
arm-in-arm
with our brother and sister,
to enhance,
or,
at least,
not bother
the streams of living
as they flow to the sea.
When our sojourn’s done,
gamely continue our journey
to a brighter place,
out there,
some where,
drawn by the songs
of a cosmic chorus,
pulling us
toward the smile
on that Eternal Face.
