Voyager celebrates today
her 40th year in flight
from billions of miles out
in interstellar space.
In 40 more years,
not having slowed:
ten miles a second!
she will be billions more.

But I can catch her still,
for the soul travels
at the speed of thought,
so in my homecoming flight to Jesus
I’ll pass her by and wave hello!
She may wink back!

Or,
if I’m still here
when He comes again,
one of His short-stop angels
will carry her back in his glove
so she can be here at that
grand, final launching of us all,
on our joyful journey
to the stars.
