528 Tenacity April, 2014

Oh! We are tenacious here at Aloha Acres,
Hawaiian themed senior citizen parking spot
in the Hudson Valley.
We have our own community association,
our president, eighty two, (imagine!)
hot rodding around on her golf cart,
passing out the news letter,
reminding us of the coming
Memorial Day Veterans Pot Luck,
even if it is only April 1st.
Korea and Vietnam vets, mostly.
Not many Omaha Beach Boys around any more.
We will, pooper-scopper in hand,
walk our leashed cockapoos
and pony high Newfoundlands,
“What blizzard!!?”
And when the local town
volunteer-fire-department-ambulance comes,
like it did last night,
EMTs, flashing lights, CB blaring,
the whole park, by 7AM, will grip their phones,
white knuckled, discovering, Who?!! and exclaiming,
“Isn’t that something! He looked so good,
last time I saw him! Helen! Didn’t Fred look good
at the Halloween party last Fall?
He made a great ghost!”
