382 Beach Work Aug. 2010

Childs play is serious business.
Todays sand castle is blue print
for tomorrows skyscraper, trumping
puny tenements on our cities skylines.
Vulnerable sand walls, doomed
against inevitable waves, will,
some September, stand strong against
the surge of another Katrina’s wrath.

Only observe Brandon’s intensity
or his sister Brenna’s energy
to know our future is safe in hands.
How assuring, these surf side rehearsals,
for we whose job it is to
let go our dreams, slowly,
and watch our grand kids
create the future.
