Who taught the black capped chickadee
to eat the sunflower seed?
To peck along the gray stripped shell,
extract the meal, to munch it well?
How did the first one learn that trick ,
then pass it on to her little chick?
Was it placed in her genes when
the designer designed her
or did It to the taste of
seed incline her?
What a lovely photograph!
The Goddess reclining in a sunflowered field,
spinning shells into outer space,
the chickadee perched on her shoulder,
a sated smile on his face.
