219 My father in my mirror

It occurred to me this morning,
I have the same hair color
as my Father.
I started out a tow head,
he started out a brunette,
but we have met today
in balding shades of gray.

I know people say
I favor my Father,
but, now I can see I’m
looking more like his twin.
This change has come,
a quick tick of the clock,
and I’m struggling hard
to get over the shock.

I’d be willing to bet,
the older I get,
that more of him will I see
in what I thought was just
me.
