125 Three old ladies

I stopped at a
SENIC VIEW REST STOP
in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Was joined by three old ladies
sporting around in a red Mustang.
They were laughing, joking, as they
stared out, over and off the cliff.
It was peaceful at the bottom,
a bit rugged but, unbothered.
Their cars plates said TEXAS3
so I asked if they were looking
for a new place to live.
They grinned at me, at youth, I think
and shook their heads.
I remember they were smiling.
Now I know their smiles were lying.
They were looking for a place
to do their dying.
But none of them were whinning.
None of them were crying.
In fact, one told a joke
as they roared away.
