35 – COLLETTE

Collette,
talking on the phone
to her unmarried man,
in Texas, for a while.

“Will you sweep me off my feet
when you return?
Will your brother’s wedding put
marrying ideas in your head?”
{After all, they’ve been living
together…five years now
and it stands to reason that…}

In her mind,
Collette
is married
to a man who is married
to a new-thing tomorrow.

What will it mean
for her?
for him?
When she becomes
an old-thing yesterday?
